If you are like me, and love different styles for your forum, then you will know that installing and updating a myriad of styles can be a very tiresome undertaking. I have a total of 20 styles installed on my forum, and you can only imagine how many template edits that requires! (Especially if you have as much mods installed as I have too.....) So, I am constantly on the lookout for ways to make this easier for myself. And in this tutorial, I will attempt to guide you through a way I found, that shortened my template edits from a couple of hours, to only a few minutes.:)

Without further a due, let's get started.

Firstly, go here, and download and install this mod: Innovative Template Manager

It is very easy to install also.

Quote

Install:

1. Upload the contents of the "upload" folder into your forum root.
2. Refresh the Admin Control Panel Page/Window in your browser (f5 on keyboard usually)
3. Look for "Template Manager" on the left.

There is so much you can do with this mod. But for the sake of this tutorial, I will only explain how to use it for when you want to install, let's say all the different colors of BluePearl's btech styles, or any of the other styles that comes in different colors.

You probably already have one color installed, and have all your template edits done. Now you would really like some of the other colors, but just don't feel like doing all the edits.

So, this is where we will use the Template Manager. It is very simple.

Step one:

Install the color you want. In your ACP (Admin Control Panel) go to 'Styles & Templates' in the left column. Expand it, and go to 'Download / Upload Styles'. In the bottom part, where it says 'Import Style XML File' browse for the style XML here (EITHER upload the XML file from your computer) on your Hard drive. Now give it a title, (you can also add the Display order here) and click 'Import'.

You will now have the raw style installed, without any template edits.

Step two:

In the left column in your ACP expand 'Template Manager'. Select 'View / Copy / Delete Templates'

You will see 3 blocks:

In the middle block, in the 'Style' area, select your style that already has all the edits done. Place a tick in by the 'Copy edited vBulletin templates' text, and click on the 'Choose Templates' button.

A screen with all your edited templates for the style you selected will open:

PS: REMEMBER THAT THIS IS ONLY IF YOU ARE INSTALLING A DIFFERENT COLOR OF THE SAME STYLE!

Select all the templates. BUT, and this is important. DO NOT select any .css templates. For example, the additional.css / vbulletin.css, etc. templates. DO NOT put a tick into these templates.

At the bottom you will see the following:

Select the style (The new one you just installed) from this list. Only place a tick next to this Style!! (IMPORTANT!!) Only the style you just installed!!

Place a tick next to the 'Overwrite templates with same name' text.

Now click the 'Copy' button. It will now copy all your templates, which has the edits in, over to your new style. You can now select your style in your forum, and it should already look great. All edits done.

Step three:

If you did any template edits in your css templates, then I suggest doing these manually now. If you did nothing in these templates, then you are done.

PS: PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS IS ONLY WHEN YOU INSTALL A DIFFERENT COLOR OF THE SAME STYLE, AND THIS METHOD CANNOT BE FOLLOWED WITH DIFFERENT STYLES. There is ways to make this easier with this mod also, but that is for another tutorial.

Good luck.
